Customized Egypt Trip
Wow! Our trip was beyond our expectations. We were a little nervous (o.k. I was a little nervous) when the news channels started showing the protests in Tahrir Square starting up again right before our departure.
In the airport we were assured by several Egyptians that the trouble was very isolated to the square which ended up being the case. We were at times within site of the square but the activity there never affected us. In fact it was fascinating to be in Egypt at this pivotal moment in its history.
Mostly I wanted to let you know how well the trip went. We were met at the airport by Ahmed. We arrived at 2 a.m. but that did not seem to affect him at all. Ahmed was flawless in getting us where we needed to go hassle free at all times. The next day we met our tour guide for most of the trip, Emad. “Emo” to us. I cannot praise him enough. Always on time, always helpful, always informative, always cheerful. He explained each site to us and then let us roam. We were never rushed and we had the luxury of seeing things at our own pace. We were thinking that he would only be with us in Cairo but we had him with us throughout the Nile cruise as well. After just one week we felt like he was a member of our family and we were all quite sad the day we left him. In fact Ian was inconsolable. Emo had become like a big brother to him. We all now feel like we left a little bit of our hearts in Egypt.
We were most impressed by how much the Egyptians love children. We feel like our stay was greatly enhanced by having the kids with us as everyone there took the time to great them and play with them. We never heard an unwelcome word…at least one we could understand…. Please encourage any of your clients to go to Egypt and to go with children. The sites of course are awesome but what I remember most is the warmth of the people.
Thank you so much for helping us to arrange this trip. It could not have gone better.
