Lithuania is Europe's best kept secret; this exciting country was only formally recognized as an independant nation in 1991 and has been steadily growing ever since. Though the country has a rich cultural heritage (Lithuania was first mentioned by name over a thousand years ago in 1009) it retains the fresh and vibrant feel of a new nation, a cultural melange of pagan and Christian tradition, language, and art.
