You will visit Quito’s colonial quarter (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and visit Independence Plaza, the temple of La Compania de Jesus, and the Monastery of San Francisco. You will continue to the Equatorial Monument and visit the Ethnographic Museum. (B)

First Class: La Selva Lodge or similar accommodations

You will catch a flight from Quito to Coca (included) where you will board the canoes and travel down river to La Selva Lodge. The local naturalist guides will familiarize you with many species of fish and animals on walks through the rainforest or during observations from the mini tower. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Today you will explore the rainforest and the many species of vibrantly colored birds. The bird walk and the observation decks give you a close up view of the rainforest canopy. You will have lunch at Finca before taking a hike along the Rio Napo and a canoe ride back to the lodge. (B,L,D)

Begin your hike this morning on the Lagartococha trail and view an array of wildlife. Take a tranquil canoe ride through a natural swamp, home to anacondas and caimans. Learn how to fish piranha and be see troops of squirrel, capuchin, and howler monkeys. (B,L,D)
