Florence, Sorrento

Travel to Venice, Florence, Siena, Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento & the Amalfi Coast and experience Italy's history, culture, and local cuisine. In Venice, visit St. Mark's Square, the Rialto Bridge, and the Grand Canal. Indulge in food tastings during a walking tour to traditional Venetian bars and explore the city lights during a night walking tour. Enjoy a scenic train ride to Florence and visit Giotto's Bell Tower, the Ponte Vecchio, and the statue of David. Cap off your evening with a traditional Tuscan dinner and sunset walking tour. Drive through Tuscany and stop in Siena for a farmer's lunch and wine and cheese tastings. Continue on to Chianti for an additional wine tasting before traveling on to Rome. In Rome, visit the Pantheon, toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain, and tour the Vatican. Join an optional excursion to tour the Colosseum or a day trip to Assisi. The next day you will visit Sorrento but not before stopping to tour Pompeii including a light lunch and wine tasting on the Vesuvius Volcano. Top off your vacation with a full-day tour of Amalfi and Ravello learning of the ancient Maritime Republics.

1

Venice – Arrival

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure until you meet your tour director and fellow travelers at 6:30 pm at the bar of your hotel. After a short briefing, walk to a nearby restaurant and enjoy a tasty welcome dinner. After dinner, join a walking tour of the illuminated city. (D)Accommodation at Hotel Palazzo Selvadego

Explore Venice

In the morning, join a walking tour of Venice visiting St Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal. In the late afternoon, taste typical Venetian food on a guided walk visiting traditional Venetian bars. After the tour, enjoy a Venetian dinner. (B,D)Accommodation at Hotel Palazzo Selvadego

Venice – Florence

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Venice train station to board your high-speed train to Florence. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, After breakfast, meet your tour guide at your hotel to explore the heart of the town. Visit Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio (from outside), the cathedral with Giotto's bell tower (from outside), and the Ponte Vecchio. Finally, visit the Accademia and see Michelangelo's masterpiece - the statue of David. Florence – Siena – Rome

First Class: Savoy Hotel or similar accommodations

After breakfast, meet your tour guide and depart for Rome. Enjoy a magnificent drive through the Tuscan countryside before reaching Siena, probably Italy's loveliest medieval city. Upon arrival, enjoy a “farmer’s lunch” including local cheese, salami and a wine tasting. After lunch, you will have free time to explore Siena on your own before you depart for Rome. Rome and the Vatican

First Class: Savoy Hotel or similar accommodations

After breakfast, meet your assistant at your hotel and walk to Piazza Navona where you will start your exploration of the heart of Rome. See the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Baroque quarter. After some free time for lunch, you will be transferred to the Vatican for a guided visit. Rome – Pompeii – Sorrento

After breakfast, depart for Sorrento. En route you will visit Pompeii, one of the most incredible historical sites in the world. Due to its healthy climate and pleasant scenery, Pompeii was a holiday resort for rich Romans. It is now famous for its civic buildings lining the streets that are still intact today. Some of these include the Surgeon’s House, as well as the House of Mysteries, which derives its name from the murals depicting the initiation rites of the Dionysian cult. A peculiar characteristic of Pompeii is the florid graffiti covering the walls in just about every building.  At the end of the tour, enjoy a light lunch and a wine tasting on the Vesuvius Volcano. Sorrento – Amalfi & Ravello

Today, enjoy a full-day tour of Amalfi & Ravello. This excursion combines the fantastic landscapes of Ravello and Amalfi with the local culture of food and wines. In Amalfi, learn about the history of the city and the ancient Maritime Republics. Then visit an incredible “limoneto”, a cliff where lemon trees are cultivated. Pick lemons and prepare your own fresh squeezed lemonade “Amalfi style”. Later, continue to Ravello, a destination for artists, musicians, and writers, including Richard Wagner. Sorrento – Naples – Return
