After your visit, travel to the imperial city of Meknes (approx. 123 miles, 3.5 hrs), which was founded by the Almoravid Dynasty in the 11th century, by private vehicle, and then continue to Fez (approx. 40 miles, 1 hr), the spiritual capital of Morocco. Your route continues through the Middle Atlas Mountains for a chance to enjoy the landscapes that this route offers. Travel through the pass of Tizi Talghemt, meaning Neck of the Camel, on your route to Erfoud and Errachidia. Along the way, travel through Ziz Valley; a beautiful landscape with red gorges that contrast with the green of the valley. Its long belts of oasis flooded palm groves, its majestic adobe kasbahs and its fortified towns make it a landscape worth admiring. By the end of the afternoon you will arrive in Merzouga (approx. 165 miles, 4 hrs from Midelt). You can witness for yourself the silence of the desert, surrounded by miles and miles of fine sand. Enjoy the sunset in the middle of the golden dunes and spend an unforgettable night in a Berber camp, enjoying tea and a nomadic dinner. (B,D)
