1

Chiang Mai – Arrival - Mae Hong Son

Superior Class: The Imperial Mae Hong Son Resort or similar accommodations

Meet your guide at your hotel for a private drive from Chiang Mai along a winding road through spectacular jungled mountains, via the Pai Valley, to Mae Hong Son province (approx. 240km, 5 hours). En route to Mae Hong Son, you’ll stop at an Orchid Farm where a picnic lunch will be provided. Before arriving in Mae Hong Son, you will stop to visit the Fish Cave, where large fresh water fish live in a mountainside pool. Upon arrival in Mae Hong Son, check-in to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the evening and dinner at your leisure. (L)

Visit with the Long Neck Karen Tribe

Superior Class: The Imperial Mae Hong Son Resort or similar accommodations

After breakfast, head out for a private visit with the Long Neck Karen people in Padaung Village. The women in this tribal village are famous for wearing winding, brass rings on their necks from a young age, elongating their spines as they grow. Being a conservative tribal village allows the Karens to keep and prolong their unique culture and traditions through generations. Following lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy a private boat trip on Pai River before heading back to Mae Hong Son for the remainder of the evening and dinner at your leisure. (B,L)

Mae Hong Son - Chiang Mai

Superior Class: Park Hotel Chiang Mai or similar accommodations

Today, you will visit the early morning fresh market and witness the traditional Buddhist offering. Afterwards, explore Burmese temples on the lakeside including Wat Nong Jong Kam, Wat Jong Klang, and a drive up to visit Wat Phra Dhat Doi Kongmoo on the mountaintop with breathtaking views of Mae Hong Son. After lunch at a local restaurant, return to Chiang Mai (approx. 260km, 5 hours). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in and dinner at your leisure. (B,L)

Discover Chiang Mai

Superior Class: Park Hotel Chiang Mai or similar accommodations

Take a full day to enjoy the delights of Chiang Mai, starting in the morning with a little work! Climb 290 steps to visit the Hilltop Temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, which offers spectacular views of the Chiang Mai area. Lunch will be at a local restaurant before continuing to the district of Sankampaeng, home to Chiang Mai's famous handicraft industries. Following your visit, return to your hotel for the remainder of the afternoon and dinner at your leisure. (B,L)

Chiang Mai - Hill Tribes - Chiang Rai

Superior Class: Wiang Inn Hotel or similar accommodations

This morning, you will drive north to Chiang Rai (approx. 250km, 4.5 hours) through mountainous scenery via Mae Ka Chan, famous for its hot springs. You will arrive in Chiang Rai in time for lunch, followed by a pick-up truck climb through the narrow mountain roads to enjoy the great views from Doi Mae Salong, a Chinese settlement founded by Kuomintang soldiers. En route, you will stop at the Akha and Yao Hill tribe villages to meet the local inhabitants and experience their way of life. This evening, return to your hotel for dinner at your leisure. (B,L)

Golden Triangle - Mae Sai

Superior Class: Wiang Inn Hotel or similar accommodations

Begin today by driving to Mae Sai (approx. 70km, 1.5 hours),Thailand's northernmost town on the border of Myanmar. Next, visit the renowned Golden Triangle where you can stand on the hilltop and enjoy views over Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and the mighty Mekong River. After this, drive along the Mekong River to Chiang Saen, where evidence of the original 13th century city can still be seen, and for lunch at a local restaurant. (B,L)

Chiang Rai - Return

After breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and meet your private driver for transfer to the Chiang Rai Airport where you will check-in for your onward flight. (B)
