Meet your guide at your hotel for a private drive to historic Roskilde, a mere 25 minutes away from Copenhagen. UNESCO Heritage Site Roskilde is known as the old capital of Denmark with a remarkable Viking heritage. Start your exploration at the Viking Ship Museum, hosting many exciting Viking-related activities from cruising around the Roskilde fjord in a traditional Viking boat to workshops such as woodcutting and willow weaving. Admire the museum’s large collection of Nordic vessels then continue to the impressive Gothic cathedral “Roskilde Domkirke.” Roskilde Cathedral is the greatest church in Denmark, arguably in all of the Nordic Lands, housing the graves of 39 kings and queens from the Danish royal family, dating back to the 12th century. Today you will travel by private car from Copenhagen on the beautiful Riviera Road where Kronborg Castle appears with views of Oresund Strait and the Swedish coast beyond. Frederiksborg Castle's splendor is as fantastic on the inside as on the outside, with its stunning and beautiful interior and remarkable gardens. The unrivalled Renaissance castle was built by the legendary Danish King Christian IV and incorporates the best of Renaissance architecture and craftsmanship. (B)
