We had a great stay here and would definitely give it 5 out of 5 stars. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and feels very elegant, especially with the lovely courtyard in the center of the hotel. The staff were always extremely friendly, attentive and helpful, and we also really liked our room. Our room was very spacious, but one thing we would mention is the very limited storage space, which seems to be quite common in Japan. Especially as international travelers spending several weeks in Japan, we would have really appreciated more space to store our clothes and luggage. Compared to the limited storage space, the bathroom was huge, with both a separate shower and a bathtub. Personally, we would have happily given up the bathtub for some additional closet space, as we didn’t really need both a shower and a bathtub. We also really enjoyed the breakfast. The breakfast room is beautiful and spacious, and the quality of the food was very high. There was freshly made sushi and a lot of the food was prepared through live cooking, so everything felt very fresh. The only thing we found a bit unfortunate was the layout of the buffet area itself. Even though the breakfast room is huge and it never actually felt like there were that many guests, there were always crowds around the buffet. The area where you pick up the food is quite narrow and there isn’t much space to walk past other people, so it constantly felt busy and a little chaotic. It was a shame because the room itself has so much space and the guests were otherwise spread out very well. These are really just minor points though. Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay, would definitely recommend Kanazawa Hotel Sanraku and would happily stay here again.

This was an extremely underwhelming experience starting with the awful smell in my room when I checked in. The lack of connectivity for any streaming apps on the TV was also disappointing, but I wasn’t planning on spending too much time in that room because the bed was absolutely awful. I had legitimate issues with my back and booked a really nice hotel hoping I would get a quality bed and the bed was absolutely garbage. I felt like I was sleeping on a futon mattress At Fred Flintstone‘s house. It was literally so hard. It felt like it came from the town of bedrock. The staff was very nice The public spaces were also very charming. It’s closely located to the castle, which is nice but pretty far away from the main strip of action in kanazawa. Not a hotel, I would recommend or stay at again
This hotel has pretty great value. It’s a comfortable stay but it’s not like a 5 star Tokyo hotel although it says 5 star. Room is a bit on the small side and the view aren’t all that great, but everything in the room is quality. The bed is very comfortable. One highlight is the local tea they put in the room complemented by the very beautiful tea cups and mugs. Location is okay. It’s 5-10 minute walk to all the city attractions. The breakfast is pretty amazing, both the buffet and room service. Room service other than breakfast is a bit limited, only dinner and there are only 2 dishes.
Fabulous hotel. Everything about this hotel is top notch: the comfortable beds and pillows, the bathrooms, the bedrooms, the location, the cleanliness, the garden, the staff, the service - all 5 star standard. But most of all the incredible breakfast - possibly the best I’ve come across in a lifetime of travelling, with chefs cooking the biggest range of buffet food I have ever seen fresh in front of you. The value this hotel offers is exceptional, truly exceptional. One criticism, though mild one, is that in late spring they still had thick winter duvets on the bed and the aircon goes no lower than twenty degrees. Really a room should be 18 degrees to sleep well - they should change this to allow comfortable sleeping temperatures on the bedroom. But all in all a really fine hotel.
High quality hotel with spacious rooms and bathrooms, and a large window that lets in plenty of natural light. We stayed during Sakura season so it was quite busy, but everything still felt well managed. Nice touches include complimentary drinks in the room (bottled water, bottled hojicha tea, teabags, coffee machine). Conveniently located within walking distance to the castle and shops, with a 7-Eleven just down the road. It’s also about a 20-minute walk from Kanazawa Station, or a quick taxi ride for around 1000 yen. I went for a couple of morning runs in the area and it was very quiet and beautiful. There’s no gym or onsen, which would have made the stay even better. We didn’t try the breakfast as it’s an additional 4000 yen, but there was always a line in the mornings so it must be popular. Coin laundry is available in the building, and there are vending machines and ice machines on each level.
