Check out of your hotel and return your rental vehicle before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer in this gateway to Utah’s Mighty 5 national parks, known for its breathtaking red rock formations. As you travel, you'll pass by Mount Garfield, the highest point of the Book Cliffs, which stretch 320 kilometers (200 miles) from east to west, marking the crossing from Colorado to Utah. The impressive landscapes continue as you journey through De Beque Canyon, a 24-kilometer-long (15-mile) narrow canyon with stair-step cliffs of sedimentary rock layers, and then on to Mount Logan towards Parachute Creek. Finally, you will arrive in Glenwood Springs and relax overnight at a cozy hotel. (D)

Glenwood Springs – Denver
Check out of your hotel and begin your journey eastbound. You'll travel along the Colorado River through rugged landscapes and canyons, including the picturesque Gore and Byers canyons. Keep an eye out for wildlife native to these areas. The route will take you through the Continental Divide, cutting through 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) of mountainous terrain via the Moffat Tunnel. As the train descends, you'll soon take in the scenic views of the Gross Reservoir Dam. Finally, you'll reach the beautiful city of Denver where you’ll conclude your Rocky Mountaineer journey and check in to your hotel. The rest of the evening is at your leisure. (B, L)
