Itinerary

Day
1

Day 1: Arrival in Guanacaste

Touch down at Liberia International Airport and let the adventure begin immediately. A seamless private transfer delivers the whole family to one of Guanacaste's most celebrated all-inclusive family resorts, set beside the extraordinary shell-sand beach of Playa Conchal. Check into your spacious family suite and allow the resort's effortless luxury to absorb the tiredness of travel. White-faced capuchin monkeys and iguanas will likely greet you before you've even reached the room, setting the tone for what lies ahead. With multiple restaurants, pools, and a remarkable stretch of Pacific coastline on the doorstep, the hardest part of Day One is deciding where to begin.

Day
2

Day 2: Playa Conchal & Resort Exploration

Wake to birdsong and the glittering promise of Playa Conchal — one of Costa Rica's most unique beaches, its shoreline composed entirely of millions of tiny crushed shells that shimmer beneath the tropical sun. Younger children will be spellbound by the texture alone; older kids and teens can snorkel the clear, reef-rich waters just offshore. Spend the morning between beach and the resort's impressive pool complex before an afternoon exploring the expansive grounds, where iguanas bask on pathways and troops of monkeys move lazily through the canopy overhead. This is the kind of day that requires no itinerary — simply follow the family's lead and let Guanacaste work its magic.

Day
3

Day 3: Catamaran Snorkelling & Wildlife Discovery

Board a family catamaran excursion along the Papagayo Gulf, where the warm, calm waters of Guanacaste's protected bays reveal an underwater world of extraordinary colour and life. Younger guests snorkel in shallow coves teeming with parrotfish and sea turtles, while the boat itself becomes a stage for spinner dolphins that frequently arrive to escort guests across the bay. Return to the resort for an afternoon at leisure before joining a guided evening wildlife walk through the resort's reserve — torchlight, tropical frogs, sleeping birds, and the unmistakable thrill of the jungle after dark. It is the kind of experience that has children whispering in genuine, wide-eyed wonder long after bedtime.

Day
4

Day 4: Transfer to Manuel Antonio

Bid farewell to Guanacaste and journey south to one of Costa Rica's most beloved destinations. A private transfer or short domestic flight delivers the family to a remarkable beachfront rainforest resort — a property that bridges two worlds with uncommon elegance, its rooms perched between dense jungle and two pristine private beaches. From the moment you arrive, the wildlife begins: squirrel monkeys, capuchins, sloths, and iguanas are regular visitors to the grounds, and the property's own jungle trail is a miniature national park in its own right. Settle in, explore at your own pace, and let the extraordinary natural spectacle of Manuel Antonio announce itself on the family's own terms.

Day
5

Day 5: Manuel Antonio National Park

Set out with a private naturalist guide for a morning inside Manuel Antonio National Park — one of the world's most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries, where extraordinary biodiversity unfolds within a remarkably compact and walkable landscape. Your expert guide will bring the canopy to life: three-toed sloths suspended serenely overhead, white-faced monkeys raiding the shoreline, troops of squirrel monkeys moving through the treetops in a blur of gold and chestnut. By mid-morning, the trail opens onto Playa Manuel Antonio — a sweeping arc of white sand lapped by warm, gentle Pacific waters. Children and adults alike will find it difficult to leave. Swimming, snorkelling, and unhurried beach time round out a near-perfect day.

Day
6

Day 6: Zip-lining, Waterfall & Beach Day

Today the adventure dial turns firmly upward. Head inland for a thrilling family zip-line excursion through the Manuel Antonio forest canopy, where platforms connect across the treetops and the views stretch all the way to the Pacific. Teens will be in their element; younger children can take gentler guided nature walks while parents glide between ancient trees far above. Afterwards, visit a hidden jungle waterfall for a refreshing swim in a natural pool surrounded by tropical foliage — one of those spontaneous, joyful moments that define a great family trip. Return to the resort for a final evening on the private beach, the sky turning the Pacific a dozen shades of gold.

Day
7

Day 7: Drake Bay Arrival

A private transfer delivers the family to the airstrip for a scenic flight to Drake Bay — one of the most biologically rich environments on the planet, and a destination that immediately feels genuinely wild and alive. Your intimate, family-welcoming lodge awaits with remarkable warmth, set directly on the jungle's edge where sloths hang from trees visible from the dining terrace and self-guided rubber-boot trails invite exploration from the moment you arrive. Staff here are celebrated for their attentiveness and genuine care for young guests. Settle into beautifully appointed bungalows, take an early evening jungle walk, and dine together under a sky impossibly full of stars.

Day
8

Day 8: Corcovado National Park & Caño Island Snorkelling

This is the day that defines the journey. A private naturalist guide leads the family into Corcovado National Park — designated by National Geographic as the most biologically intense place on Earth — where tapirs, scarlet macaws, white-lipped peccaries, and all four of Costa Rica's monkey species share a vast, ancient, cathedral-like forest. Older children and teens will be transfixed; even the youngest will feel the magnetic pull of something genuinely primordial. In the afternoon, the family boards a boat to Caño Island for world-class snorkelling in waters so clear and abundant with marine life they draw comparisons to the Great Barrier Reef. Arrive back at the lodge sun-kissed, exhilarated, and already talking about coming back.

Day
9

Day 9: Final Morning in Drake Bay

Rise one last time to the sounds of howler monkeys and the warm Pacific light filtering through the jungle canopy. Linger over a leisurely breakfast at the open-air dining terrace, revisiting the week's highlights over fresh tropical fruit, Costa Rican coffee, and the quiet satisfaction of a trip truly well spent. Take a final walk along the beach, let the younger ones search the tidal pools one last time, and allow the extraordinary natural beauty of the Osa Peninsula to settle fully into memory before the journey north begins. A private transfer delivers the family to the airstrip for the flight to San José, where a final night at an elegant boutique hotel in the heart of the city awaits — dinner, a well-earned rest, and the easy anticipation of home.

Day
10

Day 10: Departure from Costa Rica

A final Costa Rican morning unfolds at a gentler pace — a leisurely family breakfast, perhaps a walk through the hotel's neighbourhood to browse the local coffee boutiques and artisan shops, and one last chance to savour the particular warmth and ease that defines this extraordinary country. When the moment arrives, a private transfer delivers the family seamlessly to Juan Santamaría International Airport, closing ten days that have moved from Pacific shorelines to ancient rainforest to some of the most biodiverse wilderness on earth. Costa Rica, encountered at this depth and at this pace, is a destination that stays with children — and the adults who brought them — long after the journey home is done.
