Morocco Desert Private Journey

Welcome to Marrakech! Upon arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport, you will be met by your private driver and driven approximately 20 minutes into Marrakech to the accommodation of your choice. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. 

Today, embark on a full day of private touring on foot in Marrakech with your guide. Visit the magnificently decorated 16th century Saadian Tombs, roam through the old Kasbah and the Jewish Quarter and arrive at the exquisite Bahia Palace, with its incredible zellij tile work and carved cedar ceilings. Admire the tallest structure in the Marrakech medina, the beautiful Koutoubia Mosque and enjoy some free time for lunch (not included). This afternoon, enjoy an intimate visit of the old medina of Marrakech with your guide, far from the tourist paths, where you will have the opportunity to see places not typically visited by tourists. (B)

After breakfast, journey along mountain roads and over Morocco's highest pass, Tizi n'Tichka, to Ait Benhaddou (approx. 3.5 hrs) on the edge of the Sahara. Perched on a hilltop, and almost unchanged since the 11th century, Ait Benhaddou is one of Morocco's most iconic sites. It was once an important stop for caravans passing through as they carried salt across the Sahara, returning with gold, ivory and slaves. Today, its grand kasbah has been listed as a World Heritage site the city includes a long list of film and TV credits, including Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones and Gladiator. Continue to the desert hub and popular filming location of Ouarzazate (approx. 30 min). Made popular by the growing movie industry, you will visit the Atlas movie studio to learn more about the history and filmmaking process in the area. Tonight, enjoy dinner at your hotel. (B,D)

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then move deeper into the South of Morocco to discover the canyons of the Jbdel Saghron and the lush Draa Valley (approx. 1 hr), with its palm groves, before reaching Zagora (approx. 1.5 hrs). Take some free time for lunch in a local kasbah (not included), then continue to M’Hamid passing by township of Tamegroute (approx. 1.5 hrs). Visit an intriguing library filled with ancient scripts on science, literature, the Quran ndd stories of the prophet Mohammed (subject to unregulated opening times). After, visit the underground kasbah and its unique ceramic pottery industry. You will reach the massive Erg Chigaga dunes in the late afternoon (approx. 1.5 hrs). The Erg Chigaga is one of the world's most iconic dunes landscapes, with towering dunes up to 150 metres in height. Enjoy the sunset in the middle of the golden sands and spend an unforgettable Berber night with tea and a nomadic dinner. (B,D)

Wake up early in the morning to watch the beautiful sunrise on the back of a lumbering camel. Head back to the camp for breakfast under a tent, then take some free time to enjoy the magic of the Erg Chigaga dunes. Later in the morning, meet your driver/guide for a private transfer back to Zagora for lunch (not included) then to Zagora airport for your flight to Marrakech (tickets available on request). Visit Yves Saint Laurent’s love note to his partner, the Majorelle Garden, with its Berber Museum. Afterwards, visit the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure. Alternatively, you have the option to enjoy a visit to the hammam spa for a 2 hour massage treatment. (B)

Today, you will be picked up from your hotel for a private transfer to Marrakech airport to continue on to your next destination. (B)
