Upon arrival, you will be met at the airstrip with the camp /lodge vehicle and transferred to the camp/lodge for check-in. After lunch, you will have some time to relax and unwind before you embark on a shared afternoon game drive. Amboseli National Park is located at the foot of Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. The snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro rises above a saucer of clouds and dominates every aspect of Amboseli. This park covers only 150 square miles, but despite its small size and fragile ecosystem, it supports a wide range of mammals (well over 50 of the larger species) and birds (over 400 species). After your game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. (B,L,D)

The park also affords the best opportunity to get close to the mighty elephant. You can also spot Cape buffalo, zebras, and wild dogs, among many other animals. During the heat of the day, relax at your lodge. You will have a game viewing drive in the afternoon. All meals and overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)

Amboseli National Park - Nairobi - Masai Mara

Deluxe Class: Sand River Masai Mara or similar accommodations

Superior First Class: Mara West Camp or similar accommodations

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for a flight to Masai Mara. Upon arrival, transfer to the camp with a game drive en-route, then check-in followed by lunch. After lunch, continue to a shared game drive. Masai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries, punctuated by marshes and forests. Certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya, this 650 sq kilometer reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere. During seasonal migrations, Masai Mara houses up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebras that move into the area from neighboring Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The reserve is home to all of the Big 5 and also features baboons, elands, ostriches, bat-eared foxes, jackals, and cheetahs; the rivers abound with hippos and crocodiles. Overnight in camp. (B,L,D)

Day

5

Masai Mara Game Reserve

Deluxe Class: Sand River Masai Mara or similar accommodations

Superior First Class: Mara West Camp or similar accommodations

After a wake-up call and coffee/tea, set out for an early morning game drive in the reserve. This is usually the most popular game viewing time. During the early hours, temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere for both the game and the viewer. Lions, cheetahs, and leopards roam the vast grasslands in search of their next meal, be it an unsuspecting impala or even a small bite like the warthog. Whatever the players, the spectacle of nature unfolding is always awe-inspiring! Return to the lodge for breakfast. Mid-morning at leisure followed by lunch at the lodge and an afternoon game drive. You may also want to partake in an optional activity like visiting a Maasai Cultural Village or experiencing a hot air balloon “safari” over the game reserve. (B,L,D)

Day

6

Masai Mara Game Reserve - Nairobi - Departure

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi. Enjoy lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant followed by some leisure time for shopping or relaxing; then, transfer to JKIA for your departure flight. (B, L)
