1

Nairobi - Arrival

Superior Class: Safari Park Hotel and Casino or similar accommodations

Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be met by a local representative and transferred to your hotel by private vehicle. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to relax or explore.

Nairobi – Mt. Kenya Region

Superior Class: Aberdare Country Club or similar accommodations

This morning, begin your day with a leisurely breakfast and some time to yourself. In the afternoon, enjoy lunch at your hotel followed by your departure in the direction of the Mt. Kenya region (approx. 190km, 4 hours) to take in the beautiful views of Mt. Kenya (weather pending). Check-in to your hotel in Aberdares for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

Mt. Kenya Region – Samburu

Superior Class: Samburu Intrepids Luxury Tented Camp or similar accommodations

Start the day with breakfast at your hotel then depart for Samburu (approx. 220km, 4.5 hours). En route to Samburu, you’ll stop for a game drive and a picnic lunch, where you may have the opportunity to spot elephants, lions, cheetahs and grazers such as giraffes and zebra and the are over 350 varieties of birds. These include the famous Somali Ostriches (distinguished by their unique purple/blue legs during mating season), kingfishers, humming birds, eagles, guinea fowls and vultures. Check-in to your safari camp for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

Discover Samburu

Superior Class: Samburu Intrepids Luxury Tented Camp or similar accommodations

Today you will spend the day exploring Samburu in search of the famed African wildlife, which call this region home. Take some time to rest, then return to the wilderness for an afternoon game drive for more opportunities to spot and photograph the animals of Samburu. In the evening, return to the camp for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

Samburu – Lake Nakuru

Superior Class: Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club or similar accommodations

After breakfast this morning, you’ll depart Samburu for the Nyahururu Falls and the Great Rift Valley (approx. 210, 4 hours). Here you will stop for a picnic lunch and a chance to capture some breathtaking photos. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park where waterbuck can typically be sighted along the shores and is the home of the Rothschild giraffe (approx. 70km, 1.5 hours). Baboon, impala, buffalo, monkeys, warthog, impala, reedbuck and eland are also residents here, however, the main attraction is the rhino. The park is a designated rhino sanctuary and is one of the best places in Kenya to observe them. You will arrive in the early evening in time for dinner and a game drive at your lodge where you have the chance to witness some of these natural inhabitants of the lake. (B,L,D)

Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara Game Reserve

Superior Class: Masai Mara Sopa Lodge or similar accommodations

Today you will head toward Masai Mara, complete with picnic lunches to enjoy en route (approx. 280, 6.5 hours). Head south to Narok, gateway to the Masai Mara region. You'll travel across the "breadbasket" of Kenya, covered with acres of wheat and barley, before you reach your lunchtime destination. After lunch, proceed for a game drive through Masai Mara, a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries. During the seasonal migrations, Masai Mara is home to up to a million wildebeest and zebras that move into the area from neighboring Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania. The reserve is home to all the Big 5 and many others, including hippos and crocodiles abound in the river. During your visit, you will stop in an authentic Masai Village for a cultural encounter to compliment your day of game drives. Later, you’ll arrive at your safari camp for dinner and overnight. Masai Mara Game Reserve

Superior Class: Masai Mara Sopa Lodge or similar accommodations

Your day will begin early with morning tea or coffee before setting out for a game drive in the early morning hours. This is usually the most popular game viewing time with lower temperatures providing a more favorable atmosphere for both the animals and the viewers. Lion, cheetah and leopard roam the vast grasslands in search for their next meal; it may be an unsuspecting impala or even a small bite, like the warthog. Whatever the players, the spectacle of nature unfolding is always awe inspiring! Return to the lodge for breakfast and the remainder of the morning at leisure, followed by lunch and an afternoon game drive. (B,L,D)

Nairobi - Return

After breakfast, drive to Nairobi (approx. 300km, 6 hours) where you will be dropped at your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta Airport to continue on to your next destination. (B)
