Journey Behind the Falls

Journey Behind the Falls is a year-round attraction that affords a unique view of the Falls from below and behind. You’ll descend 45 meters by elevator, where a short tunnel gives access to two outdoor observation decks and two portals located directly behind the Falls. At Journey Behind the Falls, you'll experience the awesome spectacle of one-fifth of the world’s fresh water crashing down to the basin below. During summer daylight hours, over 2,800 cubic meters of water thunder over the brink every second, traveling 65 kilometers per hour. Your Journey Behind the Falls visit will take 30 to 45 minutes and in the spring and summer months, you'll receive a free souvenir biodegradable rain poncho as protection from the mist of the Falls. Elevators descend 150 feet through bedrock to tunnels that lead to the Cataract Portal and the Great Falls Portal which is one third of the way behind the massive sheet of water. Then you walk on to the Upper and Lower Observation Decks at the very foot of the Falls. Posters of information are a great resource of information about the history and evolution of the hallways you walk through. Journey Behind the Falls is an iconic Niagara Falls experience, so make sure you take a waterproof camera.

Niagara Helicopters

For over half a century, Niagara Helicopters have been thrilling passengers from all over the world with the highest, most scenic, and most exciting sightseeing experience in the Niagara Region. Their meticulously maintained fleet of 5 six-seat Bell 407 helicopters can fly up to 30 passengers every 15 minutes each day (weather permitting) from 9am until sunset year-round. Reservations are not required since it is a walk-in attraction. Services are available in an array of languages including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Italian and many more.

John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YMC)

Hamilton International Airport, serving several destinations across North America with approximately 350,000 passengers annually, is conveniently located less than an hour's drive from Niagara Falls. While public transportation options exist, they typically involve a journey of around 2.5 hours with multiple transfers. For a more efficient and convenient transfer, consider renting a car or utilizing taxi or shuttle services.

Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)

The Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is located in the northwest corner of metropolitan Toronto 25 kilometers (16 miles) west of central Toronto and serves more than 35 international carriers. It is the main Toronto airport for handling commercial and business flights. The airport is located 125 kilometers (78 miles) from Niagara Falls, and is about an hour and half drive. You can make the whole trip via public transportation. Take a train to UP Express Union Station, and then walk over to Port Authority Bus Terminal. From there, take a bus to Niagara Falls Bus Terminal. Toronto Pearson has a smaller brother — Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ). This airport is located even closer to Union Station.

Public Transport

WEGO is the state-of-the-art bus system connecting accommodations and Niagara Falls tourist areas. It is a unique partnership between The City of Niagara Falls and The Niagara Parks Commission to provide integrated bus service to visitors. The WEGO delivers a seamless connection between tourist attractions within the city and Niagara Parks, helping you to experience all that this world-class destination has to offer. WEGO is fully accessible and will operate year-round, giving easy, convenient service to travelers from around the globe who visit Niagara Falls. They offer 24 and 48-hour passes. The Region of Niagara runs public transit bus system that runs seven days a week, with reduced service on Sundays. Exact fare (in Canadian dollars) is required when purchasing on the bus.
