Best Time to Visit

The best seasons to visit Pescara are spring and summer. In July and August, it can get quite hot, but the weather is perfect for long days at the beach, and the nightlife is vibrant. If you're planning to visit the city and the nearby areas, and maybe to do some excursions, go in May, June or September, when the weather is pleasant, with temperatures being milder than in summer. The beaches are less crowded, and you can still enjoy outdoor activities. Spring, in particular, brings blooming landscapes.

Passport / Visa

Italy can be visited visa-free for up to 90 days by citizens of most European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Israel, UAE and most countries in America. If you are unsure whether or not you need to apply for a visa, we recommend contacting the embassy or consulate in your country. International (non-Schengen) travellers need a passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the end of their intended trip in order to enter the Schengen zone. Citizens of Schengen countries can travel without a passport, but must have a valid ID with them during their stay.

Abruzzo Airport (PSR)

Abruzzo Airport (PSR) is located 3 kilometres from Pescara's city centre. To get to the city, you can take buses no. 8 and 38, by TUA bus company. It departs every 20 minutes from outside the airport terminal to the railway station in Pescara's city centre. The trip takes about 10 minutes, and tickets are sold in automatic machines in the Arrivals Area. If you prefer to take a taxi, there is a rank outside the airport terminal. Additionally, car rental companies are also represented at this airport.

Public Transport

Pescara itself is fairly small, so it is unlikely visitors will need to use the bus system. But if you do, you can buy tickets from newsagents around town. The bus station is located next to the train station, Stazione Centrale. There is a direct bus line to Rome (Roma Tiburtina) via Pescara Centrale, taking about two and a half hours. Buses also leave for Naples from here. You also find three main train stations from where you can travel to an array of Italian destinations: Pescara Centrale, Pescara Porta Nuova, and Pescara San Marco. Porta Nuova is mainly used for ferry connections.

Taxi

Traffic can be a problem in Pescara, but if you need to hail a taxi, look for white or yellow cars with a taxi sign on the roof. Before leaving make sure that the metre is turned on. Be warned that a number of Pescara taxis charge a night supplement.

Electricity

Italy operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. The most common plug types in the country are C and F, with the possibility of encountering type L as well. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins, plug type F is the plug which has two round pins with two earth clips on the side and plug type L is the plug type which has three round pins.
