Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Rimini is during the summertime, as the city is famous throughout Italy for its beach resorts and vibrant nightlife. The climate is warm in spring and early autumn, and very hot during the months of June, July and August, which makes it perfect for a beach vacation. Also, the major events and festivals are held during the summer, like the famous Pink Night, which usually takes place during the first week of July. Rimini, however, has more to offer, and if you just want to visit the city and enjoy its museums and historical places, summer probably isn't a good idea, as the city gets very crowded and the prices rise considerably during the high season. In September and October the weather is still warm, but the city is quieter, and much more enjoyable.

Passport & Visas

Italy can be visited visa-free for up to 90 days by citizens from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Israel, UAE and most countries in America. If you are not sure whether or not you need to apply for a visa, we recommend you to contact the embassy or consulate in your country. In order to enter the Schengen zone, international travellers need a passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the end of their intended trip. Citizens from Schengen countries can travel without a passport, but they must bring with them a valid ID during their stay.

Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI)

Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI) is located around 7 kilometres from the city centre. The airport is one of the busiest in Italy as the area is popular with holidaying families. Buses to the train station in the centre of Rimini run from outside the terminal. Bus number 9 runs every 30 minutes and the journey takes about 15 minutes.

Forli International Airport (FRL)

Forli Airport, also known as Luigi Ridolfi Airport, is a relatively small yet important gateway in Italy. It is located just outside the city of Forli, approximately 70 kilometres from both Bologna and Florence, and 55 kilometres from Rimini. Forli Airport may be small, but it is well-equipped in terms of facilities. As for airlines operating at this airport, Wizz Air and Ryanair are the most important ones. Currently, the airport handles over 346,000 passengers a year.

Public Transport

The best way to get around the Rimini city centre is to walk. You can also get around easily by taxi or by hiring a car or bicycle. Buses and trams operate throughout the city and outlying suburbs. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket shops located throughout the city, at the automated ticket machines or directly on board with an extra charge.
