Daily Itinerary

Day

1

Rome – Arrival

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure until you meet your tour director and fellow travelers at 6:30 pm at the bar of your hotel. After a short briefing, walk to a nearby restaurant and enjoy a tasty welcome dinner. (D)

The Vatican and Baroque Rome

After breakfast, meet your guide for a tour of the Vatican. Your visit will be memorable. Your route includes all major sights as well as some unexpected surprises. See the Belvedere Courtyard with Apollo Belvedere & Laocoön and His Sons, the Raphael Rooms, the Galleries of the Candelabra, the Maps, and the Tapestries, the Sistine Chapel, the Pinecone Courtyard, and St. Peter’s Basilica. Exit the Vatican at St. Peter’s Square and enjoy the magnificent view of the imposing Cathedral. Return to your hotel. Later in the afternoon, meet your tour leader for a walking tour of the Baroque Town with Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, Piazza di Spagna, the Italian Parliament, and the fascinating narrow streets of ancient Rome. Rome at Leisure

You have a leisurely day to explore Rome on your own or consider joining an optional tour of the Colosseum, the Borghese Gallery. (B)

Rome – Pompeii – Sorrrento

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Rome train station to board your high-speed train to Naples. Upon arrival, you will meet your driver and continue to Pompeii for a guided visit of the archaeological park. At the end of the tour, proceed to Sorrento. (B)

Explore Sorrento

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing walking tour of Sorrento. You will visit the heart of the town. From Piazza Tasso walk along Via San Cesareo, one of the oldest streets in town, until you reach Sedil Dominova, once the gathering place for Sorrento's high society. You will see a lovely cloister here, dating from 1300. At the end of the walk, enjoy a taste of Limoncello liquor in an ancient factory. Later in the afternoon, meet your guide at the hotel and start your exploration of Sorrento's magnificent countryside. You will reach a farm on the hills of Sorrento, managed by a Sorrentine family for the fifth generation. Enjoy a tour of the farm, including a trip to the ancient citrus grove and the wine cellar where your host, a young farmer, will explain the various stages of wine production. During the presentation, you will have a chance to taste cold cuts produced on the farm. After the tour, take a walk through the vineyard, olive grove, and vegetable garden. At the end of your visit, taste some typical Sorrentine dishes prepared with ingredients from the farm. End your dinner a glass of Limoncello. (B,D)

Amalfi Drive

Today, enjoy a full-day tour of Amalfi & Ravello. Start with a visit to the town of Amalfi where you will have free time to explore the medieval part of the town with the imposing Dome of St. Andrew and ancient buildings dating from the time when Amalfi was one of the maritime powers in the Mediterranean Sea. Later, you will ascend to Ravello, considered the most romantic and beautiful small town in southern Italy. Perched on arduous, terraced slopes, Ravello is said to be closer to the sky than the sea. Among lush gardens and quiet, sleepy roads, you will find corners providing unforgettable views over the azure coast below. (B)

Amalfi Coast – Return

You will be transferred to Naples airport for your return flight home. (B)
