Costa Rica Explorer Multi City Vacation

You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel.

After breakfast you will board your shuttle transfer to the Arenal area. During the shuttle transfer, you will have the opportunity to visit Doka coffee plantation. The Doka Coffee Estate is located on the fertile slopes of the Poas Volcano. This farm belongs to the Costa Rican Vargas Ruiz family, pioneers of coffee production for more than 70 years. Costa Rica’s climate and diverse landscapes provide perfect growing conditions for gourmet coffee beans. Guided by an expert, you will learn all about the production, harvest, roasting and packaging processes of the “Golden Bean.” After the tour, you can visit the Doka Estate Souvenir Shop and take home coffee of the highest quality. After your visit, you will continue to Laguna Hule to have a delicious lunch while enjoying the panoramic views of the Hule Lagoon. (B,L)

After breakfast you will begin your tour of the Arenal Volcano, the most active volcano in Costa Rica for the last 43 years. On this hike along the trails of Arenal Volcano National Park you will enter into the tropical rainforest and areas which were once devastated by the fury of the volcano. During the hike, it is possible to see a great variety of flora and fauna. You will also observe the lava slides of 1992, a large accumulation of solidified volcanic material ejected during the very active period that year. On clear days, you will enjoy incredible views of the impressive Arenal Volcano, Arenal Lake, the Tilaran mountain range and Cerro Chato. Your guide will give you interesting information about the main characteristics of the volcano, which has been active since 1968 and many other details about the ecosystem of the volcanic region. After your hike, you will be able to take a relaxing soak at the Paradise Hot Springs. These thermal pools are naturally heated by the volcano itself without the need for added chemicals or treatments. Depending on the hour, you will either enjoy lunch or dinner at the hot springs’ restaurant before returning to your hotel. (B,L or D)

After breakfast you will be transferred to Monteverde by boat across Arenal Lake (approx. 3 hours). Half tour, half transfer, this boat ride is a picturesque and speedy option for travel to Monteverde from the Arenal region. After crossing the lake, you will arrive to Rio Chiquito, a little town on the other side. Once you’ve arrived, a bus will take you to your hotel in Monteverde.(B)

Enjoy breakfast then join your Adventure Combo Tour in Selvatura, including the canopy tour, the suspension bridges and a visit to the butterfly garden. Selvatura Park is a cloud forest conservation project where a wide variety of tours is hosted. You can glide along cables and zip lines through the cloud forest or take the Treetop Walkways consisting of a 3 km trail and eight different bridges. The park also has a butterfly garden hosting more than 50 different species of butterfly and a hummingbird garden, a treat for photography and nature enthusiasts alike. You may also wish to visit the Education Center with a large private insect collection, property of world famous entomologist Dr. Richard Whitten. (B)

After breakfast, board your shuttle transfer to Guanacaste, specifically Tamarindo Beach (approx. 5 hours). (B)

Enjoy breakfast then a day at leisure to relax at the beach or join an optional tour, such as surf lessons! Tamarindo and the surrounding area is one of the most popular destinations for surfing in Costa Rica. Long sandy beaches and warm waters create an ideal environment for experienced as well as novice surfers. To learn how to surf, all you need is the ability to swim and a good sense of humor. Lessons last two hours and include an introductory on-beach instruction where you will learn the basic surfing techniques, as well as safety and etiquette. Once in the water, the instructor will guide you until you feel confident. The instructors guarantee that you will be able to stand on your board and ride your first wave in your first class! (B)

You will have breakfast at your hotel then, around noon, be transferred back to San Jose by shuttle bus (approx. 5 hours). (B)

After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home. (B)
