Located inside the Cordillera de la Sal, 8 miles west of San Pedro de Atacama, the valley received its name thanks to the great similarity with lunar landscapes. There is no life in this valley and no humidity, making it the most inhospitable place on the planet. When the sun is setting, it colors the edges of the hills and gorges, while the wind blows between rocks, and the sky changes from pink to purple and finally to black. Without a doubt, this is one of the main attractions of San Pedro de Atacama. (B)

The most picturesque one is Toconao, where it is possible to see original Liparita stone architecture. After visiting Toconao, cross the Chaxa Lagoon. You will be close to the mountains and volcanoes, some of which are sacred and have inspired beautiful legends of the Atacama Desert.
