The Moorish Trail Multi City Vacation

All New Deluxe Vacation Starting from $2,519!

Since the earliest days of global trading, Morocco has long served as the bridge between North Africa and Europe. This long-standing tradition has allowed cultures to blend, creating the Hispano-Islamic Moorish architectural style. Elaborate tiling, vibrant colors and ornate archways define this style, which finds its way deep into the heart of Morocco and extends all the way into Portugal and Spain. Travel through Morocco witnessing examples of how European, African and Islamic cultures blend into one unique architectural style.

Chefchaouen -Meknes-Fez

After breakfast, explore the blue city with your private driver/guide. It’s color - a gorgeous blue tint that covers not only Chefchaouen’s houses, but its mosques, government buildings and public squares - comes from a custom that dates back to the 15th century. Later, travel to the imperial city of Meknes (approx. 200 km, 3.5 hrs), which was founded by the Almoravid Dynasty in the 11th century as a military settlement and became a capital under Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century. He introduced a Hispano Moorish style in the architecture with the great Bab Mansour; a gate of intricate mosaic or zellig, the ramparts, the granary and the Sahrij Swani Basin, used for irrigation and plantation.  In the afternoon, continue to the spiritual capital of Fez (approx. 65 km, 1 hr). (B)

Day

Discover Fez

After breakfast, your whole day will be devoted to Fez, the most ancient imperial city, founded by Idriss I and his son Moulay Idris II. Visit the medieval Medina with its Medersas (religious Islamic universities) Attarine and Bou Anania, the Nejjarine Fountain, the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, and the Karaouine Mosque. There is also the possibility of opening the Palace of Pacha Glaoui, not generally open to the public, for a private tour (not included). After lunch at a local restaurant in the medina (not included), continue to Fez Jdid (new Fez), and then return to your hotel for the remainder of the evening at your leisure. (B)

First, you will arrive in Beni Mellal (approx. 360 km, 4.5 hrs), situated in the foot of Mount Tassemit and one of the agricultural centers of Morocco. Take some free time for lunch at a local restaurant (not included), and then continue to Marrakech (approx. 200 km, 3.5 hrs) where you will arrive late in the afternoon for check-in at your selected hotel and the remainder of the evening at your leisure.
