A twelve-minute helicopter "Flight of Angels" mid-morning provides the most breathtaking possible farewell to the falls — the full curtain of falling water revealed from above in all its extraordinary, thundering scale. A perspective that changes everything. By late afternoon, the transfer to Victoria Falls Station marks the beginning of the return journey as Rovos Rail departs southward toward Hwange — the bush settling into its evening rhythms around the carriages, the formal dining car glowing warmly, and the magnificent days ahead beginning to take shape.

The train arrives at Rovos Rail's magnificent private station in Pretoria late morning — journey's end, and a destination worthy of the occasion in its own right. A transfer to OR Tambo International Airport awaits, or for those with time and inclination, the opportunity to extend the stay and explore Pretoria's own considerable charms at leisure.
