Travel to Alta, Norway and stay in a historical mountain lodge with modern comforts. Strap on your snow shoes and join a guided Northern Lights tour through the wood. Experience a dog sledding tour, adventure through the forests and spot native inhabitants throughout your travel. Don't forget to make time to relax and indulge in traditional Norwegian cuisine back at the lodge. Spend a night snug and warm under mounds of fur as you watch the Alta River flow past in your ice and snow hut. To enhance your travel experience, we suggest spending at least one night before and after your tour in the capital city of Oslo.

Day

Alta – Arrival

First Class: Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel or similar accommodations

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to the Ongajok Mountain Lodge, a fantastic place with modern comforts and in a historical setting. The farm comprises nine buildings, built in the traditional Norwegian mountain farm style. Make yourself at home! In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner made with local ingredients. Then start your first adventure. Go and find the Northern Lights during a guided walk through the woods with snow shoes under your feet. (D)

Day

Alta – Snowshoeing

First Class: Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel or similar accommodations

After breakfast at the lodge, let the fairy-tale continue. Explore the surrounding forests on snow shoes accompanied by a guide. During the tour you might meet some of the inhabitants of the arctic landscape. You will be served an an outdoor lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time to relax before you go hunting for the Northern Lights again in the evening. (B,L,D)

Alta – Snowmobiling

First Class: Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel or similar accommodations

Today, it is time to add some adrenaline! Travel far into the highlands by snowmobile. You will see endless plains covered in snow, deep valleys and high mountains. Lunch will be served outdoors before you return to the lodge to relax. After dinner, you will get another chance at seeing the Northern Lights. (B,L,D)

Alta – Husky Tour

First Class: Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel or similar accommodations

Meet a bunch of friendly huskies today! A dog sledding tour is probably the best way to experience the Arctic. The only noise you will hear is the sound of the sledge and the dogs' paws on the snow. You will share a sledge with another traveler and take turns driving it. Stop en route and enjoy a hot lunch around an open fire. The afternoon is at leisure and dinner will be served at the lodge before you can wave goodbye to the Northern Lights. (B,L,D)

Day

Alta – Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel

After breakfast, will be taken to Alta's city center. A second transfer will bring you to a different type of accommodation made of pure snow and ice. The Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel is surrounded by a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The temperature inside the ice hotel is between 19 to 25 degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks to natural reindeer-hides, mattresses, and sleeping-bags that will keep you warm, you will have a comfortable night in calmness and serenity. (B)

Alta – Return

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Alta airport to catch a flight to your next destination. (B)
