Discover Jerash and Ajloun

This morning, drive to Jerash, the Pompeii of the East, perhaps the best-preserved of the provincial Roman towns. Around its colonnaded main street you will see the Cardo, the South Theater, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, the Artemis Temple and the Nymphaeum. Continue westward to Saladin’s 12th century Arab castle, Qalaat al Rabad, known as Ajloun, one of the finest examples of military architecture in Jordan. Return to Amman for the remainder of the evening at your leisure. (B,L)

Amman – Madaba – Mt. Nebo – Kerak – Wadi Rum

Today you will travel to Wadi Rum with an en route stop, first, in Madaba. Travel south from the Dead Sea along the 5,000-year-old King’s Highway, until you arrive in Madaba, the City of Mosaics. Just ten minutes west of Madaba stands one of the most revered sites in Jordan, Mt. Nebo, the memorial of Moses, and the presumed site of the prophet’s death and burial. Later, proceed south to Kerak, famous for its crusader fortress in the center of underground galleries, rooms and secret passages. After your visit, complete your journey to Wadi Rum to check-in to your hotel. (B,L,D)

Wadi Rum - Petra

This morning will begin with a visit to the moon-like terrain of Wadi Rum. Here you will meet long-skirted legionnaires offering cardamom-spiced coffee at the Beau Geste outpost. Enjoy a two-hour jeep ride through the oasis, made famous as the landscape for the classic film “Lawrence of Arabia.” After your tour, continue to Petra to check-in at your hotel. (B)

Petra – Dead Sea

Your guide will meet you at your hotel to begin a breathtaking tour of the rose-red city, beginning at the Siq, a winding canyon road. At the end of the passage, you’ll see Petra’s most beautiful monument, the Treasury, carved out of the solid rock from the side of the mountain. Following your tour, continue your journey through Jordan with a drive to the Dead Sea to check-in to your hotel. (B,L)

Dead Sea – Amman - Return

Enjoy a final Jordanian breakfast before returning to Amman where you will be dropped off at the airport for your return flight home. (B)
