After breakfast, enjoy a private sightseeing tour of Lima. Explore Colonial Lima, including the Main Square, exteriors of the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and the City Hall. Continue on to the 17th-century San Francisco Convent and its catacombs, the ancient underground cemetery of Lima. Afterward, head to the Pueblo Libre District to visit the Larco Museum, an 18th-century Viceregal mansion that houses more than 3,000 years of Peru’s pre-Columbian history. The museum boasts a supremely fine collection of gold and silver jewelry and worship paraphernalia that demonstrates the superb skill of ancient Peruvian gold and silversmiths. The Larco Museum also contains a famous collection of erotic ceramic tomb art that gives insights into various aspects of pre-Columbian sexuality. Overnight in Lima. (B)

Lima - Cusco - Sacred Valley

After breakfast, private transfer to Lima’s airport for your domestic flight to Cusco (not included). Please ensure that you will arrive before 8:30 am for your private transfer to your hotel. After check-in, embark on a private sightseeing tour of the archaeological site of Moray. Used as an agricultural testing ground, the site’s system of circular terraces descends 490 feet (150 meters) from where you will stand, serving as a perfect testament to the level of advancement achieved by the Incas, who excelled at building masterful constructions in harmony with nature. Move on to visit one of the last remaining Incan towns, Ollantaytambo, once fiercely guarded by a massive fortress. Discover the large archaeological complex of what used to serve as a wayside inn for royal delegations on long journeys. Surviving structures here include multiple walls and towers that were used to protect the citadel from possible invasions. Finish your tour in Pisac, a beautiful town where Incan and colonial influences have reached a perfect balance and created a unique way of life. Spend some time wandering through this quaint town, famous for its artisan markets that feature extraordinarily fine jewelry and ceramic and textile craftwork. Enjoy lunch at Wayra Ranch during your tour before an overnight in the Sacred Valley. (B, L)

Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu

After breakfast, meet your guide for a comfortable and scenic train ride from the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, board a bus for Machu Picchu. Unearthed for modernity by Hiram Bingham more than a century ago, Machu Picchu is one of the seven wonders of the world. Its architectural beauty, spectacular natural setting, and enigmatic energy will take your breath away. Follow in the footsteps of the ancient Incas as you tour the citadel before returning to Aguas Calientes for lunch at a local restaurant, dinner at the hotel, and overnight in Machu Picchu. (B,L,D)

Machu Picchu - Cusco

After breakfast, visit the ruins of Machu Picchu early in the morning for a beautiful sunrise. Continue exploring different sides of the citadel with your guide until you board a train for Cusco. Upon arrival, private transfer to the hotel and overnight in Cusco. (B)

After breakfast, embark upon a sightseeing tour of Cusco. Visit the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a colossal structure built from huge carved rocks jointed with absolute accuracy. This astounding example of Incan military architecture is undoubtedly the greatest architectural work of the Tahuantinsuyo. Make a short stop at Cristo Blanco, a large statue featuring panoramic views of the city. Then explore the San Pedro Market, Cusco’s main street market inundated with aromas, tastes, and colors of local products. Afterward, visit the Qoricancha (“room of gold”), a temple dedicated to the sun god. Legend has it that its inner walls were once entirely lined with gold! Make a final stop at the Cusco Cathedral, where you will take a guided tour to discover its mysteries and admire its lovely atria and priceless 17th- and 18th-century paintings of the Cusco school. Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. Overnight in Cusco. (B)
