Reykjavik - Amazing Flight over Wilderness Wonders – Great Museums – Food and Fun

First Class: Grand Hotel Reykjavik or similar accommodations

After breakfast at the hotel, make your way to the Graandi area of Reykjavik’s Old Harbor neighborhood. Bursting with shops, restaurants, and museums, the former fishing-district Graandi has invigorated downtown life, while paying homage to the fishing roots that allowed this small town to grow into the capital of Iceland. This morning, you’ll enjoy the amazing Fly Over Iceland flight simulated experience. This experience uses state-of-the-art technology to simulate an incredible flight over stunning landscapes; special effects, including wind, mist and scents, combine with the ride’s motion to create an unforgettable experience. In addition to the flight you’ll also be immersed in interactive multi-media experiences to learn about Iceland’s nature and culture. The rest of the day is at your leisure to discover Reykjavik. We highly recommend a whale watching boat tour, discovering Icelandic Sagas and Viking history at the Saga Museum, or a visit to one of the outdoor geothermal pools. (B)

Reykjavik- Golden Circle and Lava Cave (Guided visit) Self drive

First Class: Grand Hotel Reykjavik or similar accommodations

After breakfast at the hotel, pick up your rental car and set off to explore the Golden Circle, Iceland’s most famous collection of natural wonders! First, visit Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to learn about Viking history close up. Afterwards, visit the surreal Geysir geothermal area where mud pits bubble and boil and exploding geysers shoot water a hundred feet into the air every few minutes. Nearby is Gullfoss, the Golden Falls, believed to be Iceland’s most beautiful waterfall. During the day, we also suggest a visit to Fridheimar, a geothermal greenhouse where vegetables are grown using geothermal energy. The Efstidalur dairy farm is a great place to stop to try home-made ice cream. On your way back to town, head to Raufarholshellir, the Lava Tunnel. The certified cave guide will take you into this magnificent lava tunnel. Created by a volcanic eruption over 5000 years ago, the tunnel shows spectacular colours and lava formations. (B)

Wilderness Adventure Guided Small Group Tour

First Class: Grand Hotel Reykjavik or similar accommodations

Enjoy your Icelandic breakfast in the morning and get ready to board a super jeep for your family adventure. Your driver guide will whisk you through the southern farmlands onto an unpaved mountain track leading towards Mount Hekla. This beautiful volcano is one of Iceland’s most frequently erupting. In the middle Ages, people in Europe believed it was the entrance to Hell. Drive through a river and into Landmannalaugar nature reserve. This is a strange world where steam rises from the ground and the mountains show brilliant colours of red, orange and gold. If you’re up for it, your guide will take you on a short hike to get a better view over the mountains, icy glaciers, and steaming hot springs. Then relax in a unique river that is a blend of cool spring water and underground hot springs. Alternatively, you might prefer to visit Thorsmork, the Woods of Thor. This pristine valley is a lush paradise nestled between glaciers and filled with birch forests, mossy meadows, and native wildlife. (B)
