Arctic Winter Tale Escorted Vacation

Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening, you will enjoy a delicious dinner with local ingredients before your first adventure starts. Search the skies for the Northern Lights during a walk through the woods with snow shoes under your feet. Your guide knows some secret places and will also explain how to capture the lights with your camera for the perfect shot! Overnight in Alta. (D)

Explore the surrounding forests on snow shoes with your guide. This will be an entirely different experience from the night before as you may have the chance to meet some of the local inhabitants of the arctic landscape. You will be served a warm lunch outdoors before heading back to your hotel to relax while you wait for the next Northern Lights hunt to begin at sundown! Overnight in Alta. (B,L,D)

Today is the day to add some adrenaline to your system! Travel far into the highlands by snowmobile and witness endless plains covered in snow, deep valleys and high mountains. Lunch will be served outdoors before heading back to your hotel to relax or enjoy a warming sauna. After dinner, you’ll have another opportunity to spot the elusive Northern Lights. Today you’ll get to meet a pack of the friendliest huskies in all Norway! A dog sledding tour is maybe the best way to experience the Arctic north. The only noise you will hear is the sound of the sled and the dogs’ paws padding the snow. You will stop en route for a hot lunch around an open fire then, in the afternoon, head back to your hotel for dinner and one last chance to spot the Northern Lights. Overnight in Alta. (B,L)

In the morning you will have breakfast and then transferred to Alta city center where you will meet your transportation to an entirely new breed of accommodation – a hotel made purely of ice and snow! The Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel is surrounded by a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The temperature inside the ice hotel is between -4 to -7 degrees. With the help of natural reindeer skins, mattresses and sleeping bags to keep you warm, you will enjoy a comfortable night in calm, quiet serenity. Overnight in Alta. (B)

In the morning you will have brekafst before being taken to Holmen Husky, a charming place just outside of Alta, where you will spend a night in a tent – but, no ordinary camping tent! The Tipi bungalows are insulated against the winter’s cold and come with a double bed (with comforters and heated blankets, just in case), and a wood-burning stove so you can watch the crackling fire as you curl up in bed. One section of the lavvo has been replaced with a floor-to-ceiling window so, on clear nights, you can watch the stars hanging overhead and, if you’re lucky, you might glimpse the Northern Lights! After enjoying a restful night under the stars, you’ll enjoy a good breakfast before heading to the airport for your return flight home. (B)
