Best Time to Visit

The Whitsunday Islands enjoy mild weather all year round, which means any time is good to visit them. November, December and January are the hottest months of the year and may feature some rain, while winter takes place around June to September but temperatures don't fall much below 20°C/68°F. The busiest periods for tourism are July, September and May, along with Christmas, Easter and school holidays.

Passport / Visa

Unless you are a New Zealand citizen granted visa exemption on arrival (in most cases), you will need to obtain a visa prior to visiting Australia. Citizens of all European Union countries, as well as Andorra, Norway, Iceland, San Marino, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, and Vatican City are eligible for an eVisitor visa, which can be applied for online. For citizens of the United States, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Brunei, South Korea and Malaysia, the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) entry permit is available, which can be applied for online and grants holders the right to enter Australia an ulimited amount of times for stays of no longer than 3 months per visit. Citizens of all other world countries (with the exception of Somalia) are also able to apply for a visitor visa online. Airport

Hamilton Island is the only Whitsunday Island with its own airport. There is a direct connection to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and daily service to Brisbane. The airport is serviced by around 50 flights per week, with complimentary shuttle buses available to take you directly to your accommodation.

Public transport

The island is only 5 km long from North to South, and 3.5 km wide from East to West, laid out so that everything can be reached easily. Your exploring can be done on foot, using the free Island Shuttle, or in a golf buggy which is available to hire on an hourly, half-daily or daily basis.
