1

Puerto Maldonado - Arrival

Upon arrival, begin your experience immediately with an enchanting private boat ride through the rainforest to your hotel. There will be a short briefing upon arrival at the lodge then you may settle into your cozy cabana and enjoy lunch in the dining room. Take a rest, then meet your Inkaterra Explorer Guide to choose from the 14 different excursions available at the lodge. A guided walk along the trail system into the Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica natural area is highly recommended as you will discover the Amazon Basin and become acquainted with the rainforest. Tonight, enjoy dinner served in the main dining room then you may retire to your room or join a nocturnal wildlife tour to experience the jungle at night. (L,D)

Explore the Rainforest

This morning, after a full buffet breakfast at your hotel, consider an excursion to Lake Sandoval and the Tambopata National Reserve. Glide in a wooden canoe, across a beautiful, mirror-like oxbow lake, to witness exotic fauna such as the giant river otter, red howler monkeys and black caimans. Return to the lodge for lunch, then consider a walking along the Reserva’s canopy walkway. Walk among the treetops on a suspension bridge network linking eight observation platforms. Be on the lookout for toucans, trogons, monkeys and sloths! Head back down to ground then enjoy a daily nature presentation at Inkaterra’s Eco Center with happy hour. Note: Participants may choose their excursions. Private guides are available for an additional cost. (B,L,D)

Gamitana Farms

Enjoy a trip to Gamitana Creek, located 25 minutes by boat from the lodge. Explore the rainforest along the banks of a winding, dark-water creek that is home to piranha, caiman, turtles and birds. Reach the Sanipanga landing point then navigate your way back downstream, observing the abundant flora and fauna along the way. Return to Gamitana Farm for a short, guided tour of local farming. After lunch, enjoy the Hacienda Concepcion excursion with over 200 different plant species. Tonight, consider the Rainforest by Night excursion through the Inkaterra Ecological Reserve. Venture into the forest and experience the mystery of the animal activity that awakens in the rainforest after dark. Listen to the nocturnal forest sounds and spot species that only emerge at night. Puerto Maldonado - Return

Enjoy a full breakfast before you depart. A private 45-minute return boat trip on the Madre de Dios River takes you to Puerto Maldonado. Here you will visit the Butterfly House, boasting the greatest variety of butterflies in the world. (B)
