Welcome to Santiago! Upon your arrival at Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, you will be greeted by your private driver and an English-speaking assistant. From there, you will enjoy a comfortable 30 to 40-minute drive to the heart of Santiago. Once you arrive, the rest of the day is yours to relax and explore at your leisure. Whether you choose to unwind at your hotel or take a stroll through the city, you can begin to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Chile’s capital.

Santiago – Puerto Natales

After checking out of your hotel, you'll meet your private driver and English-speaking assistant for a comfortable 30 to 40-minute transfer to the airport, where you'll check in for your flight to Puerto Natales. Upon arrival at Teniente Julio Gallardo Airport, your driver and assistant will greet you and take you on a scenic 20 to 30-minute drive to your hotel in Puerto Natales. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore the charming town at your own pace. Whether you choose to unwind or discover the local sights, your time in Puerto Natales is sure to be memorable.

Puerto Natales - Punta Arenas

After checking out of your hotel, meet your private driver and English-speaking assistant for a scenic 3-hour drive to your hotel in Punta Arenas, the vibrant city known as the most populated in southern Patagonia. If you arrive early, you’ll have time to explore Punta Arenas at your leisure, with its many museums, shops, and restaurants offering plenty to keep you occupied. By early afternoon, a Quark Expeditions representative will meet you at the official starting point hotel, where you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner and a briefing to help you prepare for embarkation day. Get ready for the adventure ahead as you take the first steps toward your unforgettable expedition. (D)

Punta Arenas – King George Island – Embarkation

Your charter flight from Punta Arenas to Antarctica allows you to cross the famous Drake Passage in just two hours, while your ship makes its way toward King George Island for your arrival. As your plane descends into the South Shetland Islands, you'll get your first breathtaking view of Antarctica’s dramatic landscapes from a truly unique vantage point. Upon landing, you'll head to the shore and then be transferred by Zodiac to your ship, where you’ll embark on your journey to the Antarctic Peninsula!

Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands

Soon, you'll easily distinguish between Adélie, gentoo, and chinstrap penguins. One day you might embark on a Zodiac cruise in search of majestic whales and icebergs, and the next, hike to a penguin rookery. If conditions permit, we will cross the famed latitude of 66°33'S, where you can raise a glass in tribute to the early explorers who first reached this remote region. You’ll take pride in knowing that you've arrived in a part of the world visited by very few people. This is the raw beauty of Antarctica, home to the midnight sun, Weddell seals, and the best opportunities to witness sea ice—the cornerstone of the Antarctic marine ecosystem.

Northbound Along the Peninsula

If you haven’t had your fill of Antarctic wildlife and icebergs by now, you’ll surely be satisfied by the time you return to King George Island. You will continue to explore by Zodiac or on land as you travel north along the western Antarctic Peninsula.  Your Expedition Team will always be on the lookout for species of seabirds, seals and whales that may have eluded you on your journey south. Disembarkation – Punta Arenas

After your week of exploration, you’ll say goodbye to your Expedition Team and disembark at King George Island. Your two-hour flight across the Drake Passage to Punta Arenas, Chile, brings your adventure to an end. After your group transfer to the hotel, you are free to explore and enjoy an evening on your own, in the city or at the hotel to reminisce about the sights and sounds of Antarctica. (B)

Punta Arenas - Santiago

After checking out of your hotel, meet your private driver and English-speaking assistant for the approximate 30-minute transfer to the airport where you will check-in for your flight to Santiago. Upon arrival at Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, you will be met by your private driver and English-speaking assistant and driven approximately 30 to 40-minute to Santiago. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. (B)
